Holy Cross Academy: Happy 10th Birthday!
This year we also celebrated the tenth anniversary of Holy Cross Academy. When Montfort Academy closed ten years ago, Bishop John Keating of the Arlington Diocese put together a team to construct a new school in south Stafford County, to be completed within the year. The Sister Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales were asked to come and begin the work. Our Principal, Sister Susan Louise (center, below) and Sister Frances Carol (right, below) were two of the first Sisters to come. Sister Mary Vincent (left, below), came a couple years ago to serve our little ones in St. Mary Preschool and Kindergarten, when our third original founding Sister, Sister Michele Elizabeth, returned to Childs, Maryland, the motherhouse of the Order in the United States.

Holy Cross Academy today remains a home for all children to learn the loving embrace of God and learn to find Christ in the work that they do and in those with whom we share this time and space of life.
In gratitude and recognition for our Sisters’ 10-year presence, St. Mary Parish has presented the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales with a new tabernacle for their chapel in the motherhouse, Mount Aviat in Maryland, as well as a commemorative Crucifix (above, left) for the front entry of the offices at Holy Cross Academy. The PTO and Knights of Columbus also contributed to the Crucifix for the school.

Soon you will find a web gallery of historic photos which tell the story of HCA for the past ten years.
